St. Augustine Ballet Conservatory Program

This program offers pre-professional training for students who are seeking high-level training for a future as professional dancers. The program begins at 1:30 PM with the option of either 3 days or 5 days a week and focuses on classical ballet technique, variations, conditioning, character and contemporary. Dancers will be given not only top-of-the-line training, but also the opportunity to have regular master classes with guest teachers, and the opportunity to compete in national dance competitions!

Competitions and Awards

The Conservatory Program has only been active for two years and our dancers have already accomplished so much. Although the focus of the program is on technique and not on competitions, we feel it is an excellent opportunity for our students to grow as dancers. We participate in Youth America Grand Prix and Universal Ballet Competition. At Youth America Grand Prix one of our dancers received 3rd place in the contemporary category. At Universal Ballet Competition 7 out of the 10 dancers that competed placed in the top 25, including 3rd place in junior classical and 4th place in pas de deux.

Universal Ballet Competition (UBC) is a premier student ballet competition, which has expanded into eight major metropolitan cities in the US due to its growing popularity among dancers, studio directors, and the ballet community. Founding members, Lissette Salgado and David Lucas, former principal dancers of the Joffrey Ballet and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, have illustrious careers. Their combined list of professional contacts allows them the privilege to recruit globally renowned dancers, company directors, and ballet school directors to judge, mentor, and teach the master classes during each UBC competition. Since its first season, UBC has hosted and mentored more than 10,000 dancers and awarded over 3 million dollars in scholarships.
